My name is Valentina and I am a Moscow born Brussels based transdisciplinary artist. My documentary approach researches the intersections between video, visual and installation art.
In my work I attempt to open up new perspectives on memory, migration and anthropology. Through an atmosphere of existential nostalgia my practice is challenging current socio-political perspectives through themes such as abandonment of Russia's rural areas, lost traditions and stories, migration and what it means to 'belong' to dissonant places.
In my transdisciplinary practice I am active individually as well as in collaboration with my life partner Niko Hafkenscheid. As duo we made visual work around subjects like propaganda, the romantics of the Russian countryside, or the psychology of migration.
